Eurgh! Why Do We Keep Spending So Much?!

Spending money is a problem we all have, but I’m not necessarily trying to say that you’re spending money on the wrong things. Some things are essential, like clothes, bills, cars etc. But, of course, there are some things that we really can help it with, we just chose to go overboard. We self indulge because the money is there, and wonder how we’ve spent our all our money when we’re only a few days into the start of the month. So, I want to explore some of the reasons why we spend so much, and what we can do about it. I want you to get to the end of the month and be so happy with your finances, rather than pulling yourself into an overdraft!

We Can’t Help It

There are some things that we have to pay for that we just can’t help but pay for. I’m talking about our bills, fuel for our car, food on the table etc. But, just because we have to pay for them, it doesn’t mean that we have to make it so expensive. For our cars for example, there are plenty of ways of getting cheap full coverage insurance rather than paying the high price that you usually have to. You can go for a black box, you can go through independent insurers, or you can just make sure you’re the most sensible driver in the world. As for our home bills, we’re definitely to blame for the most of it. If you’re leaving every single light on, having the heating on all day, and using enough water to fill the Sahara desert, then you’re obviously going to struggle money wise. So, think about being more conscious. If you want to use less power, why not go solar powered? Expensive to install, but very much cost saving in the long run.

Spending Problems

Don’t get sucked into the trap of having spending problems. Well, you’re probably already there like the majority of us. Spending problems are hard to get out of. Once you have a taste of what you want, you can’t help but keep getting it. The best thing we can advise is to stay away from the trap that is buy now pay later sites, and never use your credit card for anything other than emergencies. As long as you’re only ever using your own money, you should stay on the right side of the tracks. Just try and curb your treats to once a month!

Too Much Money To Spend

If you have too much money to spend, you’re lucky. But having too much in the bank can lead to silly decisions, which is why you need to get yourself a locked savings account. They’re great for keeping your money locked away from your sticky hands, and you won’t be tempted to blow it all. It’ll also make you more conscious of the money you do have, and not to blow it all in one week!
