How to save money: my frugal date night ideas

A lot of people think that in order to save money, you should completely stop spending money on things that aren’t necessities. However, this is wrong. You can still spend money while you are saving, just in moderation. When it comes to things like date nights, I definitely think that it’s important to set aside some time for your partner with no distractions. For this reason, I have put together some date night ideas that won’t break the bank!

Frugal Idea #1

Go to the cinema but save money by getting your drinks and snacks from a cheap supermarket beforehand. You can also eat something before you go, to avoid all temptations when you get there! Lots of cinemas also do deals such as 2 for 1 ticket prices on Sundays which helps to save a bit of cash.

Frugal Idea #2

Alternatively to the cinema, you could enjoy a movie night at home. Getting some nibbles and lighting a few candles will definitely set the scene!

Frugal Idea #3

Cook dinner together. Yes it can be something that simple!

Frugal Idea #4

Go for a hike or go on a trail walk.

Frugal Idea #5

Go for picnic in your local park. Obviously depending on the weather as the UK can be very unpredictable at times!

Frugal Idea #6

Look for the best deals. You can check websites such as Groupon for this one for anything from activites to an inexpensive spa day. If you fancy a meal, you can look at getting a Tastecard, NUS card or getting a cheap deal with 2 for 1 Meerkat Movies/Meals.

Frugal Idea #7

Have a bonfire and toast marshmallows for a cosy night in.

Frugal Idea #8

Go to a local comedy club or a gig for a laugh.

Frugal Idea #9

Go mini golfing.

Frugal Idea #10

Give each other a massage with essential oils.

Frugal Idea #11

Host a dinner party with friends – you could take it in turns to go to each other’s houses. It’s almost like a cheap version of Come Dine With Me!

Frugal Idea #12

Go to a local farmers market or car boot sale. It can be fun finding all sorts of second hand treasures!

Frugal Idea #13

Volunteer at a local animal shelter. My boyfriend and I did this one very recently and I have to say it did melt my heart walking and playing with all the dogs. We are definitely going back to take some treats for the animals!

Frugal Idea #14

Have a games night. Hopefully this tip won’t cause any arguments!

Frugal Idea #15

Go to the beach and collect seashells.

Frugal Idea #16

Paint together. This means you can put time aside for each other as well as helping to express yourself!

I hope this post has given you a few date night ideas that you can put to good use! As always let me know if you have enjoyed this post in the comments below or tweet me @BritOnABudget1!

These are great! My boyfriend and I already do some of these things – we are notorious for sneaking in full blown meals into the movie theater lol. Game nights are something we play a lot and we occasionally host dinner parties as well! It is a great way to have fun but still save some money too.
