During these difficult times, many people are uncertain about their current financial situation and the pandemic has thrown lots of us into difficult times.
Whether you are working from home, unable to work or still going about your day to day life, I thought it might be helpful to some people to round up some ways to make some extra money at home. Although I don’t expect these ways to change people’s lives, it may help to occupy some people and help them earn some extra cash.
Have a declutter
If you have some spare time on your hands and you are able to get out to the Post Office, you could have a sort out of your house and list some items for sale. I have a post about how to make money from decluttering and a more specific post about making money from Facebook Marketplace.
Scan your receipts
As lockdown is beginning to ease and non essential shops are starting to open, for a lot of people it means that we will be shopping more. If your receipts are less than 2 weeks old, you can download a number of receipt scanning apps which will reward you for taking pictures of your receipts. You can then redeem the points earned for cash via PayPal or vouchers for a variety of stores. I have a post here specifically about scanning receipts.
Use your time for freelance work
In this day and age you can use your skills for pretty much anything, and a popular choice for extra cash is to turn to freelance work. Whether you want to look into transcription jobs or becoming a virtual assistant, there are plenty of ways out there to make some extra dosh.
Online survey sites and apps
One of my favourite ways to earn some extra income is to use survey sites and apps, in particular Swagbucks and Ipsos iSay. It does take time to build up your rewards but it helps to save a few extra quid off your spending once you can cash out.
