If you have any clutter in your home that you could make a few extra quid from, have you considered selling them on Facebook Marketplace? Local Facebook selling groups and Facebook Marketplace are becoming an increasingly popular way to declutter your home and earn some cash in the process. The best bit is, there are no selling fees and you can make hundreds of pounds from it.

How does it work?
Once you have had a sort out and selected the items that you want to sell, it’s time to log onto Facebook and list them to the Marketplace.
From your news feed on Facebook, click the Marketplace logo at the bottom of your screen if you are using a mobile or in the left hand menu if you are using a computer.

Once you have clicked on the Marketplace, click on the ‘+ Create New Listing’ button to list your item for sale. You will then be taken to the next screen which will ask if you are listing an item for sale, a vehicle for sale, a house for sale or a job opportunity. You will need to select an item for sale.
You will need to add some photos of your item and you can add up to 10 images to show potential buyers exactly what they will be getting, and the condition of the item. In addition to this, you will also need a title for your listing, a category the item falls into, a price you have in mind and the condition of the item as well as an optional product description if you really want to go into depth about what you are selling.
After you have completed this information, you will need to type your location (it doesn’t need to be your exact postcode, the name of your town or city is fine) so that nearby buyers can browse your item.
Facebook also gives you the option to hide your listing from your Facebook friends but visible to other people on the Marketplace, so if you are selling an unwanted birthday present family and friends will never find out!
If you want to promote the items you are selling even further, you will have the option to list the item in up to 20 groups that you are part of on Facebook.
Once you have completed all of the steps you can publish your listing and wait for the messages to come flooding in!
If your item is sold, make sure to mark it off as sold on the marketplace so people know it is no longer available.
Top Facebook selling tips
You can sell lots of your unwanted items on the Facebook Marketplace, however there are some restrictions on items that you cannot sell. These include alcohol, gift cards, event tickets and animals, as well as a few other items. You must be selling a physical item and the description of your item must match the images that you have uploaded.
You should aim to take great pictures of your items, as these will help them to sell faster and it will avoid messages from buyers who are unsure about what you are selling. You should consider multiple photos of the item from different angles, and the pictures must depict any damage to the item.
Make sure to include tags in your listing as it will increase the reach of the amount of people who will see your product. You should be as specific as possible when it comes to the tags. If you are selling a grey fabric sofa, I would put ‘sofa’ ‘grey’ ‘fabric’ ‘couch’ as the tags.
Additionally, be sure to include whether the item is collection or delivery in person or via postage.
