Welcome back to my Money Making series! In this post I’m going to be looking at the popular survey site Swagbucks, and how much money you can actually make from it.
Now if you’ve ever looked into making money online before, especially through survey sites, chances are you will have heard of Swagbucks. This is something that you can make money from if you want to work from home, have a side hustle or make some extra money to buy yourself some nice bits!
Swagbucks Overview
Swagbucks is a survey site that offers you credits (which are known as Swagbucks or SBs) for completing surveys, watching videos, making online purchases, playing games and searching the web.
The Swagbucks can then be redeemed for cash via Paypal or gift cards for huge retailers including Amazon, John Lewis, Starbucks and Marks & Spencers, or if you’re feeling generous you can donate your points to charity.
How Do I Get Started Earning On Swagbucks?
It is completely free to join Swagbucks, and when you initially sign up they will ask you to complete a profile survey that helps to find suitable surveys for you based on your demographics.
A lot of the surveys are on third party websites, so you will be sent to sites like Samplicio and Toluna.
Is Swagbucks A Scam?
Swagbucks has actually given away over £238,307,081 to date, and it has more than 20 million registered users who cash in on completing simple tasks.
Throughout my time using Swagbucks, I have managed to earn lots of SBs which I chose to cash in for Amazon gift cards, and eventually put towards buying my laptop.
How Do I Earn Money?
Searching the web
Swagbucks has its own search engine, and when you search the web using their engine you can earn points to put towards a reward. You will need to install their extension on your browser to earn through it, but it is an easy way of making money from doing something you are going to do anyway.
Swagbucks are partnered with Yahoo! Search, therefore Swagbucks are randomly awarded to you when you make searches.
You can receive anything from 3SB to 15SB for a successful search, although some people have won up to 40SB from a search. When you do win, they ask you to enter a code just to make sure you’re not a robot.
Watching videos
Swagbucks have a feature called SB TV (Swagbucks Television) where you can watch videos to earn SBs. You earn SB for every 6 videos that you watch, although sometimes you can earn 2SB per 6 videos.
You can also watch it on your phone, and I often mute them and let them play in the background while I’m watching TV.
Playing games
My favourite game is Swagasaurus Run, where you basically have to tap the screen or click your mouse to jump over objects. The game ends when you hit an obstacle – such as a plant or sleeping dinosaur, or you run off the end of one of the platforms instead of jumping across it.
You are supposed to get 2SB for every other game you play, although personally, I have never actually earnt SB from playing games.
Answer the daily poll
The daily poll is a question poll, where you receive 1SB every time you complete it. It literally takes seconds to do and it’s also one of the steps for completing your daily checklist, which gives you bonus SBs if you complete it.
Complete your daily checklist
Every day Swagbucks gives you a list of tasks to complete, and you earn extra SBs when you do. Completing 6 tasks will earn you a bonus of between 1 and 4SB, and completing all 8 tasks will give you a bigger SB bonus, which varies every day.
These tasks are:
- Daily Poll
- Daily Search
- Deal of the day – click through to the deal of the day to check this off
- Daily activity – log into Swagbucks to check this off the list
- Daily discover – check out their offers and complete an offer to check this off. Most of the time you can find a simple comparison offer where you just have to click through to a landing page for 1SB
- Daily watch
- Attempt a gold survey
- Complete a gold survey
Hit your daily goal
Everyday, Swagbucks set an SB goal for its users, and every time you reach it you will receive an SB bonus.
If you are on a winning streak and you hit your daily goal 7 days in a row, you can get even more bonuses at the end of every month – you have to claim these points or you lose them and can’t get them back.
You can check your daily and monthly progress by hovering over the daily goal tab at the top of the Swagbucks website.
The typical bonus Swagbucks for reaching your daily goals are:
7 days – 25sb
14 days – 100sb
21 days – 200sb
30 days – 300sb
Refer your friends
If you refer a friend, you will earn 10% of their Swagbucks earnings for life. So for example, if they earn 200sb, you will earn 20sb. You can’t go wrong with free money for doing nothing!
Take surveys
This seems like an obvious way to make money on the site but it has to be mentioned as it is what Swagbucks is known for. You can earn anywhere from 1sb to 1000sb depending on the survey you take, although Swagbucks will tell you how much each survey is worth before you click on it. If you don’t quality for a survey and get zoned out of it, you will earn 1sb.
Surveys come from two main sources – Gold Surveys and Peanut Labs. They both give you an estimated time the survey will take to complete and the SB value of each survey.
Shop online and earn cash back
Swagbucks also offer cash back rewards, and there are many UK stores listed, including many high street favourites. It’s a great way to earn cash from something you would do anyway.
How Much Can I Earn With Swagbucks?
Just for reference, a £5 Amazon gift card from Swagbucks will cost you 700sb. A £5 PayPal gift card will cost £800sb and a £5 M&S gift card will set you back 700sb.
Over the time I have used Swagbucks, I have earnt over £100, which has helped me out massively!
