The Best Cities To Visit in France

There is a reason why France is considered the most visited country on the planet. It is so diverse and vast that you could literally spend months exploring and still not even touch the surface on the huge list of stunning places to visit in France. There is so much to see and do, including tasting the exquisite cuisine and wines, visiting plunging canyons and majestic villages, seeing the beautiful architecture and the country’s most recognisable monuments – it’s easy to see why France takes the title of the world’s most popular tourist destination.

But with so much to see and do, choosing which places to visit in France on your trip can feel very overwhelming. So to help you decide which places are on your list, here are some of my favourite places to inspire your travel bucket list.

Marseille

Marseille is one of Europe’s oldest cities and as France’s second largest city, Marseille is a city of contrast with popular neighbourhoods. At the core of Marseille is its old port, Vieux Port, and the streets are lined with waterfront cafes, shops and bars. It has several universities and industries and it has become a very lively and bubbling city.

Nice

Nice is one of the most beautiful cities of the Frnech Riviera, and it is known as the cultural and economic capital of the South of France. It has always attracted travellers, as well as wealthy families and aristocrats for its high quality of life. If you visit Nice, you will find colour and life everywhere, as well as gorgeous beaches, museums and boutique shops.

Lyon

Located in east-central France, Lyon is the capital of the Rhone department in the Rhone-Alpes region. It is the third-largest city in France, and it is known for it’s vibrant cultural scene and historic architecture.

There, you can find the Museum of Comtemporary Art, the hill of Fourvière which offers panoramic views of the city and the bohemian district of Croix-Rousse. Lyon frequently illuminates its major monuments year-round, the Festival of Lights is an important annual event, which attracts more than 4 million people to the various celebrations.

Paris

It is no surprise that Paris is on the list, as it is one of the world’s best places to visit. France’s capital city attracts more than 45 million visitors annually, and it is known as the world’s most popular tourist destination. It is dubbed as the Capital of Fashion, the City of Love and the City of Lights, and it is well known for its romantic ambiance, fashion and art.

Keep in mind however, due to the fact that Paris is flooded with tourists, room rates can be pricey. This is why I like using ebooking for hotels in the city as I can get a really good deal for my money.
