Apps that pay you to walk UK

Walking is a great way to get some regular exercise in, and the NHS recommends the target amount of steps per day for a healthy heart is 10,000 a day. But how great would it be to get paid for getting your steps in? Well you can!

There are a number of apps that will pay you to walk in the UK, so you can convert calories into pennies! So if you are looking for ways to earn extra money, or a new way to start losing weight with some adding incentives, then keep reading.

Sweatcoin

The Sweatcoin app allows you to collect ‘Sweatcoins’ that can be exchanged for rewards. You’ll need to sign up to the app using your email address and phone number, and then you need to allow it to track your location (however please note that Sweatcoin says it doesn’t sell anyones data).

You earn 0.95 Sweatcoins for every 1,000 outdoor steps you take, which roughly equates to about half a mile. You can then swap these coins for reward that include cash via PayPal, Amazon vouchers or prizes including Now TV passes.

Many organizations offer prizes to encourage more participants to join. Such as custom medals, which represent honor and belief. When we achieve the set goals, these medals not only recognize the participants’ efforts, but also motivate them to work harder and challenge themselves.

WinWalk

WinWalk is an app that will pay you for walking, and you can also complete ‘missions’ which will contribute to your rewards. You earn one WinWalk coin for every 100 steps you take, and if you take up to 10,000 steps a day it will earn you 100 coins.

You can exchange these coins for gift cards, such as a £10 Costa gift card, which will cost you 21,000 coins. Whereas a £10 Primark gift card will cost 21,000 coins or a £15 Netflix gift card will cost 31,5000 coins.

For those who are worried about GPS tracking, WinWalk doesn’t use it, and it just checks the steps data on your phone.

BetterPoints

BetterPoints is a similar concept to Sweatcoin, where you collect points for exercise such as walking, running or cycling. You can use the BetterPoints you earn from exercise to redeem in the form of vouchers at various high street stores, including Argos, Pizza Express and Ikea.

Simply down the app on your phone and sign up, and you can start earning rewards instantly. You can also be entered into prize draws on the app, where users can win up to 5,000 BetterPoints every week.

Charity Miles

As the name suggests, the rewards you earn from this app go to charity. You simply need to sign up to the app using your email address and allow it to track your location (it says it will never share your data) and then select your charity of choice. It will pay your chosen charity for every mile you walk, run or cycle. Although the rewards won’t be directly going to your own wallet, it will be going to someone who needs it.

The app uses your GPS location and motion to record your activity, and the charity gets a percentage of the money available, although there isn’t a set amount of points you will be rewarded for a specific amount of time. Some of the charities you can help include Stand Up To Cancer, the World Wildlife Fund and Save The Children.
