With the days getting warmer and the nights getting longer, it’s easy to tell we are getting ever closer to Summer. And with that, more of us are spending our free evenings outside relaxing. However, if the summer evenings turn chilly the best way to keep warm and cosy is to choose an outdoor wood burner for your garden. Not only do they keep you toasty and snug on a chilly night, they also make a great centrepiece for your garden.
I recently invested in an outdoor wood burner and I was so shocked to discover that there are a huge variety of wood burners to choose from. I have been so excited to put it to good use now that the nights are getting lighter, so when White Horse Energy asked me to review their new super fast express service, I couldn’t wait!
My experience
I found the process of ordering so easy, all of the express products can be found on the same tab on the menu bar of the White Horse Energy website, which is very convenient and makes it much easier to navigate.
I was sent the EcoBlaze Natural Firelighters box of 200, 2 x boxes of Kiln Dried Firewood, 1 x box of Kiln Dried Firewood, 1 x box of Ecoblaze Pini-Kay and 1 x box of Ecoblaze Nestro Heat Logs.
Once I had placed my order via the website, I received a text from the courier DPD saying that my parcel would be delivered the next day. On the morning of delivery, I received another text from the courier giving me a time slot that my parcel would be delivered. The level of communication between both White Horse Energy and the courier was first class, and I couldn’t believe that within 24 hours of placing my order it had been delivered to my home!
The first thing I noticed upon delivery was how eco friendly the packaging was. For me one of the most important things about ordering online is the packaging, as it really shows that the business cares and is offsetting their carbon footprint. There was very minimal plastic and the cardboard was eco friendly, which is a huge bonus.
After unpacking and admiring all of the products, it was time to put them to good use! So once my partner came home, we were ready to do some unwinding after a long day of work. After setting up our outdoor chiminea and doing a little bit of reading on the White Horse Energy website, we decided to try out the Ecoblaze Pini-Kay Briquettes first.
On the website, it says that the briquettes are a “fierce burning, long lasting and eco-friendly wood fuel for your stove, fire pit or chiminea.” The briquettes are manufactured from recycled wood which means that burner the Ecoblaze Pini-Kay is a carbon neutral option. We initially used them on their own, and found that you could instantly feel the heat and there was no spitting or sparking.
After about 45 minutes of enjoying the comfort, we decided to use the Ecoblaze kiln dried boxed firewood to add an extra bit of heat and see how they performed. By this point in the night, it was getting slightly colder and the sun had hidden itself away, so we felt that we could do with a little extra warmth.
On the White Horse Energy website it says that the firewood is a “hand packed and boxed firewood filled with the highest grade of premium dried birch firewood”. The Birch firewood is cut, split and kiln dried, and it also receives an extra day in the kiln to ensure that the moisture is under 20%.
The firewood was very quick to start burning, and I found that there was very little smoke coming off it when burnt, which was ideal for us. It also let off a lot of heat without needing to use very much at all. It ended up being an amazing night relaxing by the fire and soaking up the heat, and I can’t wait to enjoy many more nights out in the garden enjoying the chiminea.
All in all, my experience of using White Horse Energy was a great one, and I would absolutely recommend their express parcel products. Right from ordering on the website to using the products they made my experience a great one, and I felt my needs and requirements were put first right from the beginning.
